Backup and Restore i-WAT is a system based on strong trusts among participants. Such trusts can easily be lost if the data representing i-WAT tickets are lost due to accidents such as a failure of a storage device.
The protocol1 of i-WAT defines that the data representing an i-WAT ticket is redundantly distributed among participants. This allows you to restore the lost data by collecting information from the correspondents with whom you have traded. This process of recovery has been automated since version 0.14 of i-WAT, but it requires helps from many participants, and the burden of it may cause fractures in the trusts among participants around the one who lost the data.
We strongly recommend you to frequently backup the i-WAT data in order to maintain the smooth operation of the system.
To save the i-WAT data, save the contents of ".iwat" folder.
The procedure depends on your platforms.
