Recover Lost/Damaged i-WAT Tickets
This function has been introduced since i-WAT version 0.14.
>>Mechanism
As described in this page, at most three
parties are sharing the same copy of an i-WAT ticket data (an approval message
from the drawer constitutes the valid i-WAT ticket data, which is shared among
the drawer, user and receiver).
This function utilizes that fact by having the valid data of i-WAT tickets
sent from past traders, verifies the signatures on the tickets, and recovers
the correct data by storing them again in the i-WAT book.
>>Preparation
Before starting the recovery sequence, please be sure that you have the valid
public key of yourself with which you have signed the lost/damaged i-WAT
tickets and the valid public keys of your trading partners.
Also, be certain that signatures made with those keys are verifiable.
- If, for some reason, you have lost the data in your i-WAT book only, and
if your PGP (GnuPG) data remains intact, then you can proceed.
- If your PGP (GnuPG) data has also been lost, you need to follow these steps:
- Generate a new key pair
(reference).
- Rebuild the web of trust with your trading partners.
- Import public keys of each other, confirm the fingerprints and sign the
public keys
(reference).
- Obtain a copy of your old public key from your trusted party, and import
it to your key rings.
>>How to Use
- Choose "Recover Lost/Broken..." from "i-WAT Ticket" menu of the i-WAT Book.
- A window appears to confirm if you really want to recover lost/broken

yours have in their databases.
- Click on "Yes".
- If there is a recoverable i-WAT ticket, a window appears for each of such
a ticket to confirm if you want to recover it.
