version 0.08 (change 773) Release Note
# Changes
[Changes in wija version 0.08 (change 773)]
-New Features: File Transfer and Hyper-Text Sharing-
- File transfer is now possible.
- Supports JEP-00651
(SOCKS5 Bytestreams).
- In SOCKS5, computers are directly connected over the Internet for
communication.
- If direct connection is not possible due to firewall settings or other
reasons, users need to use a proxy which is globally accessible.
- Any wija software whose version is 0.08 or later can become a proxy.
- If a proxy is needed, one is automatically searched within the roster.
- proxy@media-art-online.org is an example of a proxy. It is
operated stably by Media Art Online. You may want to add the Jabber ID
to your roster.
- Also supports JEP-0047 (In-Band Bytestreams).
- It uses XMPP/Jabber channels to communicate the data.
- Files can be transferred almost in any environments where communication
with XMPP/Jabber is possible. However, the communication is very slow
(like the order of 10Kbps).
- Does not support <range/> (transferring some part of a file content)
defined in JEP-0096 (File Transfer).
- A bookmark can refer to a local file, in which case the file can be
transferred via the bookmark.
- A bookmark can refer to a local web page.
- The page is transferred as a hyper-text, including images.
- This will enable users to publish blogs from their own computers.
- version 0.09 is planned to support such a feature.
- It is assumed that all HTML files referred to from bookmarks are stored in
the same folder.
-Improvements-
- A tool tip is shown when the mouse is moved over "plus" button, clicking on
which will display the detail information panel.
- Corrections are made so that internal processing for XML error messages
(<error/>) conform to JEP-0086 (Error Condition Mappings).
- Supports JEP-0030 (Service Discovery).
-Fixes-
- Solved the problem of off-line contacts leaving in the roster as if they are
on-line (although their presences are not accessible) when they left the
network while your computer is asleep.
- Eased the problem of bookmark menu items now showing when the parties are
separated by more than one XMPP (Jabber) server.
- Eased the problem of occasional mal-calculation in resizing the contact
windows.
- Solved the problem of the "ripple" button occasionally animated non-stop
after closing one's own contact window.
[Changes in i-WAT version 0.08 (change 773)]
-Fixes-
- Solved the problem of occasional exception upon showing chains.
- Solved the problem of occasional exception at an i-WAT module upon referring
to roster item information.
* WIDE Hours are not changed.
[Changes in Spot-lite version 0.02 (change 773)]
Spot-lite is a plug-in for detecting people's whereabouts by the unique numbers
(BSSID: Basic Service Set IDentifier) of wireless LAN base stations, and
allowing them to rendezvous.
-Improvements-
- Supports PlaceLab 2.0
(PlaceLab 1.1 is no longer supported).
- If you are a Windows or Linux user, copy "placelab.jar" in PlaceLab 2.0
to the "lib/ext" folder in your Java 2 runtime environment.
- If you are a Mac OS X user, no special settings are required because
Spot-lite will use "Internet Connect" application.
- A spotter (module to detect base stations) can be tested.
- Detection of one's own spots can be turned on/off.
- Detection of others' spots can be ignored by preferences.
- Detection of one's own spots causes others' contact windows updated.
-Fixes-
- Spot detection messages are no longer delayed upon errors. Directives defined
in JEP-0079 (Advanced Message Processing) are used
(this is because users' whereabouts today are only meaningful today).
- Solved the problem of information on the previous spot left on the detail
window when unknown spots are detected.
[Changes in Cutie X version 0.02 (change 773)]
Cutie X is a plug-in which enables wija to display multimedia data supported
by QuickTime such as MPEG4 format (to use this plug-in QuickTime for Java
needs to be installed in your computer2).
-Improvements-
- Enables control (play/stop/rewind/fast-forward).
- Enables loop-play.
- Allows users to select whether Cutie X should grab QuickTime files.
-Fixes-
- Recognizes QuickTime files even when their extensions had trailing white
space characters.
[Tunes version 0.02 (change 773)]
Tunes is a new plug-in that works with Apple's iTune software. It enables users
to exchange the song titles to which they are listening, or explore the
song titles which they may like. This plug-in is bundled with wija since
version 0.08.
-New Features-
- Transfers song titles you are listening to to people two hops apart.
- A functionality is embedded so that people can listen to the songs to which
their friends are listening, by using hyper-text transfer through Cutie X
or a web browser (this feature is turned off until the copyright issues are
cleared, but if you would like to try it out within the scope of apparent
fair use, such as among close friends or family members, please let us know).
- Displays recommendations by comparing songs in your iTunes library with the
songs to which people are listening.
About window and help pages are not yet ready for Spot-lite, Cutie X and Tunes
plug-ins. We regret any inconveniences this may cause.
