Chats

You can initiate a person-to-person chat by selecting the peer on the member list.

Select the nickname of the peer with whom you would like to start a chat, and go to "Member" menu -> "Chat...", or
Double-click on the nickname of the peer with whom you would like to start a chat, or
Right-click¹ on the nickname of the peer in the member list, and select "Chat..." on the popup menu.

When you receive a new chat message from someone, a chat window appears automatically.

Enter a message on the input field after the chat window appears. Your message is sent to the peer when you hit "enter" key.

The Encrypt button is enabled if you have a valid public key of the peer.

When you press the Encrypt button, a secret shared key is sent to the peer, and chat messages will be encrypted thereafter.

The peer needs to type in the GnuPG passphrase to decrypt the shared key.

When the Encrypt button is pressed again, the encryption is canceled thereafter.

¹	Right-click is to click on the right-hand-side button of the mouse. Since a Macintosh computer has just one mouse button, there needs to be an alternative; Macintosh users should click while pressing down "control" key.
