Encrypt Group Chats
A group chat can be encrypted by distributing a secret shared key to the
participants.
>> Encrypt a group chat
Do one of the following to start encrypting a group chat.
- When joining to a group chat, put a check on "Encrypt Group Chat".
or
- Click on the Encrypt button on the group chat window.
- When you click again, the encryption is canceled.
If a shared key has not been generated for the conference room, the following
window appears.
>> Distribute a shared key
- Select the peer to whom you would like to distribute the shared key on
the member list of the main window.
- Go to "PGP" menu -> "Send Shared Key" on the group chat window.
The peer needs to enter their GnuPG passphrase if they decide to receive
the shared key.
>> Regenerate a shared key
- Go to "PGP" menu -> "Regenerate Shared Key..." on the group chat window.
- The following warning message appears to clarify that the redistribution
of the shared key is needed, and the past encrypted messages will not
be readable when you enter the conference room the next time.
- Click on "Yes" if that is OK with you.
