The key information window shows the information of a public key included in the key rings.

>> Primary Key

The primary key is the key for digitally signing things.

[ID]
  • The 64-bit ID of the key.
[Algorithm]
  • The algorithm used for creation of the key.
[Length]
  • The bit length of the key.
[Creation Date]
  • The date and time when the key pair was created.
[Expiration Date]
  • When the public key expires.
[Validity]
  • Validity of the public key.
    [Disable]
    • Temporarily disables public key.
[Fingerprint]
  • Shows the fingerprint of the public key in a color pattern and hexadecimal string.
  • The following operations can be chosen by clicking on the color pattern.
    [Save as Image File...]
    • Saves the color pattern as a PNG file.
    [Play as Notes (Experimental)]
    • Plays the fingerprint as notes.
    • It is necessary that MIDI play back is enabled in your Java runtime environment.
    • Refer here if you have a trouble playing the sounds.
[Copy Fingerprint to Clipboard]
  • Copies the fingerprint to the clipboard.
  • The hexadecimal representation of the fingerprint can be pasted to the application of your choice.

>> Subkeys

[subkeys]

A subkey, in most cases, is used for encryption only.

[ID]
  • The 64-bit ID of a subkey.
[Algorithm]
  • The algorithm used for creation of the subkey.
[Length]
  • The bit length of the subkey.
[Creation Date]
  • The date and time when the subkey was created.
[Expiration Date]
  • When the subkey expires.
[Fingerprint]
  • Shows the fingerprint of the subkey in a hexadecimal string.

>> User IDs

[user IDs]

[ID]
  • The ID of the user (typically real name and e-mail address).
    [Add]
    • A new user ID can be added only if the public key is yours.
    [Remove]
    • The user ID can be removed from the public key only if the key is yours.
[Signature]
  • The list of signatures to the user ID.
[Binding]
  • The Jabber ID of the member bound to the user ID.
    [View Information...]
[Trust]
  • The trust you have chosen for the person represented by the user ID.
    [Change]
    • Changes the trust.

>> Photo IDs

[photo IDs]

[ID]
  • The number for the photo ID and its image.
    [Add]
    • A new photo ID can be added only if the public key is yours.
    [Remove]
    • The photo ID can be removed from the public key.
    [Make Avatar]
    • The image can be registered in the vCard data as an avatar only if the public key is yours.
[Signature]
  • The list of signatures to the photo ID.
