Set up wija (5) - add your friends to the member list

To communicate with your friends using wija, you have to add them to your member list. You can initiate communication with them by selecting their nicknames.

For example, suppose Alice wants to add Bob to her member list. In that case, Alice and Bob let each other subscribe to their presence following these steps.

Then, by obtaining each other's public key, they will be able to communicate safely.

1. Alice adds Bob to her member list

Alice follows these steps.

  1. Go to "Member" menu -> "Add Member...".
    • Alternatively, you can click on "Add Member..." button on the tool bar.
    • The following window appears.
    [add-to-roster window]
  2. Enter the following items on the window.

    [Jabber ID]
    • The Jabber ID of the peer, which you must have obtained by means of e-mail, etc.
    [Group]
    • Specify to which group the peer belong.
    • If the group does not exist, it will be created automatically.
    • If you do not specify a group, the peer will belong to "Unfiled" group.
    [PGP Public Key]
    • Select the peer's public key user ID.
    • If you do not have their public key, leave it blank (it can be easily obtained if they use wija, too).
  3. Click on "Add" button.

At this point, Bob's nickname appears in Alice's member list, but his status lightbulb is white.
